I am setting up a 56 gallon this weekend. Kind of odd shaped, it is 30"L x 18"W x 24"H

So far I have sand for the substrate, a couple pieces of wood and a corner cave. I am considering live plants.

Only fish I have to move in there is my BN Pleco. I will be using the cycled filters from my smaller tank.

I know I need to go with smaller ones due to the length of the tank. I like Keyholes if I can find them. Other than that I am not sure.

Ideas ?

you could go with dwarf cichlids ther are plenty of nice dwarfs just a few are German blue rams, apistogamma rotpunkt, and cockatoo apistogamma.you could also go with some larger tetras like Columbine tetras, black neons, and black and gold skirts.

Do Apistos and Rams do okay together, even if they are breeding (or trying to) ? How many males to females would be safest ?

how about the dwarf cichlids mentioned, some angels and some of the larger tetras, rummynose or even cardinals

I would stick to 1M/1F, (although some apisto species will also be happy in a 1M2F ratio)

I would go for apistos or Rams tbh as they each tend to spend a lot of their time at the bottom levels of the tank,
You could then look at Angels or Keyholes which will venture much higher up the tank

how about 1-2 pairs of gold rams and a dozen gold neon tetras i think that would make an interesting color scheme

sounds good i would try and cover all of the tank levels like like the rams for the bottom the neons or maybe a larger shoaling fish then have some angels for the middle that would be a nice amazon themed tank and get some nice swords in there and some nice rockwork and you have a stunning tank in place

Thanks !

Here is what I am thinking:
1 pair Apistos or Kribs
3 Angels
1 Bristlenose Plec
Shoal of 7 fish (still to decide and what I will add first........basically okay as long as they are big enough for the Angels not to eat and not nippy ?)

Is there a Catfish I could add that doesn't get too big and be happy with this community ?

Angels and neon's dont mix, not when the angels get to a decent size anyway. Neon's become lunch.

Angels and or keyholes and some apisto's sound good though, with a bigger type of tetra - maybe even bleeding hearts.
