Must have taken ages to go though all those names and distinguish identical entries with different names, Would hate to have to have done that. Good job though
Thats helpful . Was at a store today I saw some pseudomugil furcata in a tank, the store normally uses scientific names, they had them labeled as Popondetta furcata which was their scientific name 40 years ago . They've had their name changed 3 different times. They started as pseudomugil furcata in 1955, changed to Popondetta furcata in 1980, changed to Popondichthys furcatus in 1987, then went back to Pseudomugil furcatus in 1987 . Needless to say I bought some .
Its not just marine life, the scientists (taxinomists?) who go through and reclassify any form of existing life are trying to swim up a waterfall, theres massive overclassification out there.
