55 Gallon Companionship

So I am in the midst of cycling my new fifty five gallon, and my main focus is SA puffers. I plan on 4 or 5, and was wondering if they would get along with an African Knife Fish..anyone ever tried this? As far as what I have found, One Knife could go into a fifty five. Correct me if I'm wrong! Anyone have experience with this combination?

I'd be worried about the SAPs outcompeting the knifefish for food and the knifefish getting nipped, they are not out-and-out zippy fish needed to stand a chance with SAPs. Basically, look for tankmates with true forked tails of a similar size, for instantce Bleeding Heart Tetras.

Just an fyi the african knifefish are REALLY shy and nocturnal id be lucky if i see mine with the lights on at all
