Hoover AL,
what kind of cichlids would you recommend for a 55 gal/208.2l, and how many of each? i like any thing with some color and mildly agressive

African cichlids might be more up your street, they can be more colourful and you can certainly fit more in.

If I was to do NW cichlids though, for a 55 I would do a pair of salvini, definately aggressive and not too shabby looking either.

You level of experience may also play a part in what is suited for you. How long have you kept fish for, and what do you keep? Also, how much work are you prepaired to put into maintaining the tank? Malawis are realy well coloured, but need lots of work in the way of waterchanges. Discus are also bright and colourful, but not suited to a beginner. Tanjanecans are also nice. The lists of possible fish for you are nearly endless, so give us a few constratins :shifty:

i've ben keeping fish for about 6 years. I had (took back to store) 2 pacus and kept them alive for two years in a 20 then to a 55. I do not want discus because i could not keep up with them.
(please don't yell at me about the pacus i have gotten yelled at 20 times before i took them back)

I would consider Mbuna if you want some color.

Also, I see you are a resident of Hoover. I'm a resident of Homewood, but I stop by Aquarium Imports sometimes for fish.
