I finally ordered a pressurized co2 system. The tank is lushly planted, but it will really take off as soon as I receive this system. Question of Aaron and all you other experts....I am now using 130 watts on this 55g tank. With Automated CO2, can I make the jump to the full 260 watts my light is capable of providing. I have been running 2 65watt bulbs on one side, with 1 65 watt bulb running on the other. I took advice from here and started using a pipette to excel does the brush algae. The brush algae is not at all visible at this point. So, I'd appreciate some lighting feedback.

So, I was able to combat brush algae with 2 growing siamese algae eaters, spot dosing excel, and, lastly, stopping regular iron dosages into the tank outside of the general excel product content. So, what is the relationship of Iron supplementation and brush algae? Is there any? Just based on my observations, there appears to be...

130w is more than enough. Most people, including myself, run 2 x 54w T5 on a 60gallon tank.

while ever you have algae, if you dose any nutrients algae will feed of them. So dosing extra iron will supplement the algae. The reason we dont usually stop dosing (although this mainly applies to NPK) is because we would starve the plants
