hi to every one please could you help me with a little prob ive kept tropical fish 4 over a year now my daughter has kept a small aqua start 320 tank for 6 months now and ive just got her a 54 litre juwel tank how many community fish can i put in it with out over crowding it i know to put fish in the tank in 2 months time just not sure on how many i have about 20 in my 3ft tank but with this been my daughters tank i was wanting to put in as many as i can but i really dont want to over crowd the tank can any one please help

How about some . and , ;)

More importantly than fish amounts is types of fish you wish to keep. If you list the actual fish you would like then a ratio can be worked out. Community fish really do range from very small to quite large so it's impossible just to say X amount of fish :D

i was thinking on stocking the tank with some guppys platys neons black widows a couple of corys and once the algae has built up 1 sailfin plec my daughter hasent kept any other fish and i would rather stock the tank with what shes use to so far in her tank she has 6 guppys 8 neons 4 platys the 54ltre tank i have just bought her is due to be set up xmas day once she has unwraped it if any one could roughly tel my the limit to stocking a 54 litre tank i would be greatful but like i said i dont want to over crowd the tank

Well, very roughly about 12"-14" of adult sized fish.

Platies get to be a couple of inches each. Neons about 1.1/2" Guppies about an inch and Cory 1.1/2"-2" each.

When you divide that up it's not many.... Say for example, 2 x Platty (same sex), 4 x Neons and 4 x Pigmy Corys.

Hope this helps. Don't forget to cycle the tank before adding fish :good:
