would it be enough to do a 15.6 gal tank? (uk)

and would a 200watt heater be enough to do a 3ftx18x12 tank? (roughly 26gals uk?)

see my new tanks just come, sand and waters in but iv just realised iv only got my 50watt as a spare :/ and that my 200watt is in my 15.6 gal tank...

any help?

no fish in the 3ft yet (as its only just been set up)

but there is fish in the 15.6

one pleco, 1 fighter, glowlights and penquin tetras and a golden apple snail...

I have 50w on all 3 of my 10g. I'd probably go up to 100w, I don't think I've ever seen a 75w. Depends on how cold the room gets, is it near a draft? :dunno:

200w would be fine on your 26gUK. :)

where the tank is theres no draft that i know of, the rooms not a cold one... never needs the fire on or anything, so ill prob be ok till i can upgrade (sunday)...

thanks for answering :)

to answer this properly I need the following
W x H x D
thickness of tank
glass or accrylic
average room temp.
:D

50 watt is fine on the 15 gal. The 200 watt is overkill on the 26, but will do nicely.

They do make 75 watt, but i don't think you need to go buying new equipment.

if i do the maths correctly, a 50w heater should produce 170 btu's an hour. in a 15 gallon tank, this should be enough power to raise the tempature about 3 degrees every 4 hours. over a 24 hour period, if the 50w heater was left on continously it would raise the temp of a 15 gallont tank about 18 degrees.
this is of course assuming average NORMAL water and air tempatures, if youre air temp around the tank is alot colder the 50w would be less efficent, but yet probably still good enough unless youre air temp is REALY cold or you suffer alot of evaporation loss, both of which offset the efficency of heating a tank.

seems to be doin ok, temp hasnt dropped at all so who knows...

the only reason i have a 50watt heater lying around my house was because when i first started out i had a betta named george in a little 5gal tank... this was the smallest heater i could find and i always had it on like the 22-24 range so that it wouldnt get too hot.
