100 Litre Tank
Around 4 or 5 days ago, I visited Pets at home, and purchased a male Swordtail for my 100L Tank, The Swordtail died one and 1/2 days later with no known cause (that i knew of at the time)
I added 6 Neon Tetras to my 100L Aquarium and A male Platy (as a replacement from pets at home)
One of the Neons Died, (however i think it was one of my 3 existing Neons, which were bigger)
Tested water stats, Ammonia & Nitrite Were 0ppm as usual, however my Nitrate was about between 40 and 80 ppm (Api Liquid tests)
Today - My Opaline Gourami died, I have had him for around 6/7 months, Last night he developed a sore mouth area, probably because he nips at dead fish
so therefore he must have nipped at the Neon & the Swordtail. This morning I saw him taking gulps of air from the surface of my tank, though not the way he usually does, he had to lift most of his face out of the water to get air, I treated the tank with the correct dosage of Interpet no 8 (Fin & Mouth Rot) and changed 20% of the water. When I came back from work 6 hours later, he was dead.
Throughout the past 4 months, i have been losing Guppies, I had 8 at one time, now i have only 1 left who is currently sitting on the bottom of the tank every so often, A male Guppy would slowly worsen over 4 ish days, sitting on the bottom, then finding resting places and swimming every so often in erratic fashions, letting the current take him. By the Guppies last day, i would come back to find him dead with eaten shredded tail, (from the Gourami, no doubt)
Its come to a point now where i am scared of going in my own bedroom, because of what i may see in my fish tank.
42 Litre Tank
This tank was moved from a 27 Litre, I changed the substrate to sand and moved the filter and the female Molly over and the albino Corydora, A couple of days later i went to pets at home and purchased another Corydora and another female Molly
A day later, my existing female Molly was dead without any showing of illness, and the three remaining fish are sitting in the bottom of the tank, not doing alot with fins clamped but no rapid breathing. I purchased Melafix and received it today. I tested the water in the 42 L Yesterday and it showed 1ppm of Nitrite!
So i immediately did a 30 % - 35% ish water change.
The Question is, What should I do now to prevent more fish deaths in both tank situations? Please help
