5 Gallon

I'm going to set up my spare 5 gallon tank to put it in my sons room because he is scared to go in there we can't work out why. So hopefully this will help him like it in there as he loves my tank downstairs

So what I'm wondering is what to put in there. I know I can't put much in there but I want something colouful and active for him any suggestions thanks guys

A nice groupe of one of the Micro Rasbora's would be nice, Them teamed with some Shrimp would be great. Maybe yellow shrimp to contrast with Mosquito or Chilli Rasbora's would look excellent. Give them plenty of moss and maybe some narrow leaved Java Fern would look fantastic

I would go with 10 shrimp, they will soon multiply which is something you and your lad can watch them do... very interesting to observe the numbers rise!

As for the Rasbora's, maybe 6-8. They stay really small and are pretty active.

My puffer tank is in my daughters room and it lights it up pretty well if this is why you are thinking of putting it in there.

Thanks I'm defo guna get those. He loves watching my fish so I'm hoping having his own tank will make him feel ok in there we can't work out why he won't go in there. The tank has got a night time light too that stays on its just a tiny little blue led so that will always be on at night. Its a pretty cool tank lol

Sounds good mate. Put the main light on a timer so that its on for around 7 or 8 hours a day and that it covers the evening time when you think he may require it on. The plants i mentioned are all very simple and don't really require a deal in the way of care.

Maybe some small species of Cories too such as the Habrosus would fit in well?

There are plenty of other options though mate, just thought that the shrimps would be great fun to watch and be involved in and the rasbora's would add to the main water column so it doesn't look like an empty tank from a distance.

If the shrimp do well then you may get a return off of them and let your lad have the money as a kind of bonus for going in his bedroom? lol.

Yeah I know there's other options but I've never had rasoboras and the shrimp are cool and he could earn som pocket money to save then lol
