5 Gallon Fish Tank

hello everyone,

I recently bought a male betta (latte) a cheap little 0.8 gallon tank to keep him in as a temporary until i find a 5 gallon tank to put him in. And i think i may have found one. Anyways, i want to put other fish in to. I think i want some corydoras catfish, and something else... i dont know what....

You will need 5 gals filtered and heated for just the betta and i'm sorry to ssay he's best on his own.

The tank cannot house other "fish" but you may get an apple snail or 2 African dwarf frogs in there depending on the temperment of your betta.

i know that it needs to be filtered and sutch. I think the frogs are a great idea! And i am pretty sure my betta will be fine with them, because when he was in the pet store he was in a 10 gallon with a few corydoras catfish.

ok... so would this work out:

x1 male betta
x2 african dwarf frogs
x1 snail
x2or3 ghost shrimp

i added the g shrimp.

I think thats abit much for a 5gal as snails produce alot of waste which will mess with your water quality, i'd only choose one of the tanks mates you listed to prevent over crowding.

a 10g would be better you could have the male betta and 5 pygmy corys but the betta might not like them some will live with them and others will attack them.

ok yaa i think ill just stick with the african dwarf frogs sine i used to have 2 or 3 some time ago... so i have experiance with them.

okay... one last question... hexagon tank or a rectangular one? I like the looks of the hex, but im not sure what the fish & frogs would like.

i have a betta in a 5g hex tank but i think the frogs would prefere a normal shaped tank.

yaa i guess a rectangular would be better for betta so he has more swimming space and the frogs would have more space to

for decor: fake plants, and a small cave for the frogs?

make sure the plants you have for the betta are real or silk so it dosnt ripe there fins and you could try making coconut caves my betta loves them and so will the adf.

i have a silk plank that i can use... and for a coconut cave... dose it use a real coconut?

yes just cut it in half take the middle out and cut a bit of the front off to make a entrance.
