as above some people say its ok some dont my betta is in a 5 gal with only snails i want to add more to keep him company (pygmy cories 2-3) the tank is a heated and filtered(filter rating 5-15gal but i have restricted the flow for betta) 5 gall?

opinions and discussion welcome just dont get too aggravated and get the thread locked :good:

A betta with 4 or so Corydoras: habrosus, pygmaeus or hastatus would be fine in my opinion.

What's the point in having two polls? If you select either yes or no on one poll you answer both.

Won't vote, but a "yes" to pygmy cories. All other cories are too big to mix with a betta in a 5 gal.

some people dont have filters with there bettas but ye was kinda pointless having 2

100% depends on the set up. highly planted with no filter would be no problem, providing the plants are in good health.

It's a sub tropical fish, that requires temperatures in the 18-22oC range, so is unsuitable, Pitbull plecs may make a good alternative.

I think it could work to have 1 betta and 4 pygmy corys. Don't want any fewer than that as they won't be happy. However, I don't think it is somthing that I would try as I'd like to give the little bottom feeders some more space.

well a betta ranges from22-28 irrc so i could leave it at 22 and there both happy

Ive out my temp down to 25 degrees to accomodate my betta and pygmy's. just waiting for the temp to go down another degree, ive rescaped it today to :D

I keep pygmies in trios (pygmaeus and habrosus in different tanks) with great success. If the tank is to their liking then a trio of pygmies will socialise very happily as a school in my experience.
If the tank is not to their liking then I guess they won't.

cant remember where I saw it, but someone posted recently about adding cories and having them killed. Be careful and make sure you rescape then add the cories first.
