Found 5 dead fish in my tank today, think a sword tail and a silver gourami are on the way aswell, they are alive but not very active and very slow to react. I did a water change 2 days ago and everything seemed rosy untill now. Could it be:-

1) Aquaclear - it says for goldfish which i just realised (stupid asda), would this matter?
2) Tiger Barbs - Could they have nipped them to death?
3) Water quality - Im going to get the water checked from lfs tommorow, Wouldnt it be the case that if the water was unsuitable the fish would die in a relatively short time?
4) Location - Its now in a south facing room which has more sunshine, but the tank is not in direct sunlight. The temp is stayin at a constant 25 degrees.

I dont want to loose any more fish if i can help it. Also i have lost 3 black mollies, is there any reason that before today these were the only fish that had died.

How many gallons or litres is the tank.
How many fish and which type.
Need water stats first thing to rule out.
Take a sample of your water to the lfs and tell them to write the readings down for you.
I would invest in a master test kit of your own, liquid ones are the best.
Any symtoms to go on.
Yes tigar barbs are fins nippers and are aggressive.
Any laboured breathing.

A tiger barb will attack a fish with long flowing fins so not picked your fish stock to wisely.

its a 5 foot tank, 60x18x15 i think its 224 litres i think its 60 us gallons
Fish tank contains; 8 neon tetra's, 3 cardinal tetra's, 8 flame tetra's, 2 Tiger barbs, 2 green Tiger barbs, 2 gold tiger barbs, 3 Clown Loaches, 2 sword tails, " algae plecs, 1 Red tail shark, 1 Silver shark, 2 Gouramis (not sure what exact 1s, 6 Guppies, 1 silver molly, 1 female siamese fighter betta. i think thats it.

I will invest in a kit though.
A blue gourami that died did have laboured breathing i think, it died really slowly

Your tanks overstocked.
Water change,
What filter do you have in the tank.
I would get your water tested.
Any ripped fins before they died.

The tank looks empty! How can it be overstocked?
The filter i use is an internal filter, magicjet or something like that.
I havent noticed any ripped fins other than the siamese fighter last night.

Remove the betta to a tank on its own.
How many gallons does the filter turn over an hour.
I would get your water tested as until then we will just be guessing whats going off.
Ask in tropical chit chat about your stocking, as I would say the tanks overstocked.

No but it can go slow now and then.

The stats on the filter

Power; 20 watt
Capacity; 265 gallons per hour out-put

Also the fish seem to be swimming towards the top of the water

The filters fine then.
With the fish doing that there is no harm in preforming a water change till you get your water tested.
Can you increase aeration in the tank.
Check gills over to see if there pale with excess mucas, or red and inflamed.

i have 2 6 inch air stones in the tank. i dont think i can increase it anymore.

Do you suggest i do a water change?

Yes as the fish are not right, it due to poor water quality to parasites to bacterial.
Until we know water stats hard to say what going off.

i havent got any of the aqua clear left, should i just put in normal tap water

The only water you can preform a water change without conditioner is to do small water changes, shouldn't harm them much then.
