Hi I have 6 of the 5 banded barb fish in our tank with 2 small panda garra and 4 neon tetra and one of the 5 banded barb has what appears to be an injury to its scales? Is this from other fish attacking it or is it ill? It seems to be swimming about OK with the others.
The tanks is at 24degrees and 36litre tank.

Thanks

it looks like a bacterial infection. get a broad spectrum fish medication that treats fungus, protozoa and bacterial infections and treat the tank.

OK thanks for the advice Colin_T I'll get some and try it. I've noticed the one bossy fish of the group has been attacking it although today it does look abit better than yesterday so not sure if it's partly due to injury from being attacked.

To be honest, the fish are in a tank that's too small for them - and the neons. Being confined in a tank that's too small is stressful for fish, and one of the ways that fish express stress is by becoming more aggressive. This could be the cause of an injury.

Five band barbs need a tank 80 cm long, minimum, and neons need at least 60 cm long.
