My uncle lives near the sea, so if i went down there, could i get my stuff, and keep it in a bucket of seawater with an airstone until i get back?
That would work fine. Put only small numbers of animals in each bucket, and keep everything as cool as possible. You can get large buckets with lids from DIY shops that are used to mix paint. This are ideal and cost only a few pounds each.
Also, is taking any wildlife from rockpools and streams illegal?
It's perfectly legal within certain limits. You cannot collect from sites where it is explictly said to be illegal (e.g., a nature reserve). You cannot collect undersized edible animals of certain types, such as edible crabs and lobsters. Of the fishes, the only one you cannot collect is the giant goby, because it is rare in the UK, but you are unlikely to see it anyway.

Cheers, Neale

It should be very cool and very interesting, and hopefully ill get my first additions today :D
Ill have to keep them in FW until i get all the stuff i need, but then i can increase the salinity though waterchanges.

FIngers crossed

I surrpose you would find them in streams that lead to the sea, if you havent got any rockpools...
When i was in ireland in july, there was a stream running into the sea, and you could find loads of things. There was loads of seaweeds, and tonnes of gobys, and mullet, and i even caught two flounders (Not sure which species though..)
What i did was you would see the sand being dissrupted, then youd run after that, and then it would stop, and so would i. Then both times i caught these two, they would stop and then swim and hide under your foot... Then you would just quickly grab them and take them to the bucket. They were about 4-5" long each, so quite small....
Then there were these quick topdwellers, which i now believe were pipefish of somesort, but any that we caught died straight away... Then we got loads of these schooling fish, which i couldnt tell you what they were!!!
But yeah, these streams are great, and easy to catch things in cos the sand doesnt get contiually dissrupted like it does in the actual sea.
Loads of things in there, just need to know where to look i imagine..

Any updates on your tank CAC? I am really interested in this! nmonks suggested it to me a few months back, but I couldn't do it for numerous reasons at the time. have you got any of the fish yet?

greg :good:

Well, i got some algea shrimps on sunday, had 6, but two have died, and they made so much mess, that i had to take them out of the 38g, so they are currently in the 4g, but ill get another tank, maybe 10g for the coldwater SW tank, and i might be able to go on the first trip in the next few weeks, but im not sure if im setting up a nano for numerious reasons, so i might not have the refractometer etc so it could turn expensive....
