48" X 24" X 24" Tank

I'm thinking of this one.........http://www.aquariumproducts.com.au/prod1479.htm

Anyone care to provide feedback.........

Umm as for failure, is this common?

looks OK, size wise that's what you should be aiming for (as a minimum, you can never overfilter!)

i'm not familiar with the brand though so can't say anything more than that.

It looks very similar to an eheim, but not heard of that one before.

As for failure it's not common but I have had a filter fail so I'm a bit more wary than most!

Great, thanks Miss Wiggle (as usual) and also to Gandalf for your quick and efficient posts......

I will look into these further.........seems to be popular in LFS shops here in Melbourne as I've seen them before.......

upgrading allready mate :D
you have got the bug me thinks

i see a definate candidate for mts coming on

although i'm quite annoyed your gonna have a bigger tank than i do!

To be honest guys, yes I have the bug and the good news now that my smalled tank has finally settled, the wife and kids now are in on the bug as well.
We spent half the day today going to 4 different fish shops to get ideas, prices etc..........and the good news is that I'll be going to another 2 tomorrow......

As for ideas, we are thinking either a Chinese/Japanese themed tank with either a Budha statue or Chinese Warrior or else an Atlantis theme with pillars etc.........

Can't decide so looking for statutes etc to place in the tank. Thats why I made a posting on Ornaments..........

As for fishies, still lokking but thinking volume rather then size.........

I'm also considerning the tank size of 48 X 14 X 22..........what you think?

glad to hear it

the smaller tank would be nice too.

basically with the bigger one your gonna have more options and freedom what you can do with it, but you may fidn the maintenance hard work as it's a big step up from what you have now

the smaller one is still big enough to be nice and stable so you shouldn't have problems with water quality fluctuations, it'll be relativley easy to maintain, however it will limit you a little in what choices you can make.

I'd decide on fish before you deicde on your aquascape, fish can have vastly contrasting requirements and there's nothing worse than falling in love with a fish then realising your gonna have to completely re-do your whole tank to have it. :/

Have you considered the weight of these tanks btw. You're getting close to half a tonnes worth!

Andy

Lucky for me is that I'm on a concrete slab.............most new houses in Australia are now days....!!! Thank god for that........

Miss Wiggle, candidate for MTS..........whats that??

mts is a very nasty disease a lot of us suffer from, it's incurable and very expensive...... multiple tank syndrome.....

you just want more and more, you see another fish you just can't keep in your current set up and just have to get another tank.... before you know it your house resembles a public aquarium.

I can spot it brewing in a newbie miles off!!

;)

ha ha ha ha ha

actually i might be wrong about the us gallons, a 6'x2'x2' tank is 125g so 4'x2'x2' isn't gonna be 119

6' x 2' x 2' is a 180 US gallon - like my tank! So, a 4' x 2' x 2' is 119 US gallons. I just had to correct that one :good:.

hahaha this MTS is not good.............(chuckle).........Wife really worried now too.........I can already see me converting bedroom 4 & 5 into mini aquariums.........add to this the study room and the billiard room...........ummm the rumpus room is nice and big..............should be able to get a huge tank in there...its 8 X5 metres.....imagine the tank possibilities.........sshhhhh wife is coming.

As for sizes, try out this site: http://animal-world.com/encyclo/information/calculate.htm
