Hey everyone,

I recently saw a 46 gal Oceanic Bow front tank and stand for about a $100 on Craigslist, good deal right? But it doesnt have a hood or anything to cover it. I have tried searching online for one, tried Oceanic's website and they dont have anything. So I was wondering if anyone here has one or something similar and what do you do to cover it. The guy selling it told me the dimensions so I could try and find one, but everything I have seen, dont match. Its 36" long, 12" in the corners and dead center of the bow it widens out to 16".

Any help or suggestions. Otherwise I'll pass on it.

How good are you at DIY?

That is my suggestion. Get some acrylic and build your own.

Make a rectangle 36"x12" (or maybe slightly smaller so that it can fit into the lip at the top of tank. Then cut a piece that matches the bow portion of the tank. Put the two pieces together and use silicon on only one side of the joint. The silicon should allow you to move the two pieces as a sort of hinge. Then silcone a piece of scrap cut into the proper shape to make a handle to allow you to open the "lid" where the bow is. The solid clear top will allow you to use almost any type light on the top as you could possibly want. And depending on your filter, heater, etc. how many (and what size) holes you would need to cut into the rectangular piece.

This is my only suggestion, other than somehow getting lucky and finding the appropriate top for the tank.

yea I didnt want to go the DIY route, I was hoping to find the correct hood, so it looked factory. Alright everyone, thanks
