How are you all, amazing site... i have been reading the forums and have learnt heaps so far, but im still a newbie and looking for some ideas on my fishy mix. I know its probably overcrowded and bad, so thats why im asking you!

I have......

170 litre (45 Gallon) aqua one AR850
Black Gravel, Black Background
lots of plants, mainly amazon swords

4x blotchy algae eaters (6cm)
3x small silver angels (4cm)
3x small silver sharks (6cm)
12x guppies (6m/6f)
8x small clown loach (4cm)
8x mollies (3cm)
1x SalmonTail Catfish (15cm)
10x small yellow fish (1cm) (food for salmontail)

Ok, now before everyone starts yelling at me nonstop  ,

i dont wanna lose Sushi (salmontail)
i know the algae eaters are bad (after reading this site) so they will be going!

Actually, come to think about ill list more stuff you may be able to help me with :hyper:

Sushi refuses to eat anything expect guppies, yellow things and mollies (not flakes or bloodworm etc)

Say i have 6 pregent guppies, how long before they pop, and how many can i be expecting?? (they are in a breeder net)

That will do, now please go gentle on me!!! I love my fish and want to learn everything i can.

Any help will be appreciated

Cheers! :)

What plans do you have for when Sushi grows? :) I don't know how much you know about him (forgive me if I'm teaching my granny to suck eggs and you know all this) but Salmontails get very big from what I've read (if I've got the right species on Google).

The algae eaters could be siamese/false siamese algae eaters, which can get aggressive as they grow.

When the angels are bigger, they'll eat the guppies, but I think that's what you had planned for them with Sushi anyhoo?

Silver sharks will easily get to 12", and need a huuuuuge tank. I read of one shattering a tank once too, don't know if that's an urban myth though *lol*.

The Mollies prefer a bit of salt in their water (others can advise you more on this, I don't have Molly experience).

Clown loaches grow very big (up to 12" ish) and prefer to be in large groups.

You're in the right place for advice - hope everything works out okay for you and welcome! :good:

MMM, thanks for the fast reply, you have got the right species   easily grow 3feet plus very very quickly, im just taking a while to save my money for a 6ft upgrade, but he (or she) just looks soooo cute :D i dont wanna lose it.

guppies i have just to see how fast they breed, heard stories....

and i know about the silver sharks to, i have had to remove 3 6inch ones already. very territorial and agressive, scaring every other fish in the tank. they started smashing up against the glass as well HARD so i returned them to the LFS which doesnt know dick im starting to relise :grr:

Is 8 enough clowns to keep the happy?? love their little game they play

do you think its 2 many fish though? they ok together?

thanks for the welcome

regards Slush

you're going to need a MUCH larger tank.
the bala (silver) sharks, 1ft long, need a very long tank once full grown (6-8ft)

siamese algae eaters are peaceful community fish. chinese algae eaters are vicious little monsters! make sure you've got your ID's right there.

8 clown loaches is fine, but bear in mind they'll also potentially grow to 12"!

your salmontail, if he is going to grow to around 3ft, you're going to need a larger tank than a 6ft, it'll have to be around 200 gallons+, and at least 2.5 ft wide so he can turn around, preferably 3ft, preferably a public aquaria sized tank haha. maybe your best asking other people who keep monster fish for advice on this beastie!

hmmmm, figured something like that lol i want a 8ftx3ftx3ft, if i do though i know i wont be able to control buying more fishies!

chronic overstocker lol

The other info is Mollies need to be in brackish water with marine salt not aquarium salt. That net was intended to only hold 1 adult fish or a few fry. It isn't big enough for that many fish. Even with just 1 they get stressed out fairly quickly. They need room to swim. Also if you want the fry it won't happen with all those fish in there. There is also nowhere for them to hide from the mother even if she were the only one in there. That said... That tank is awesome! I love the decor too! Good luck.

Why thankyou!! i like it to, very rainforesty was wat i was aiming for... i have 8 guppies in there and a mollie only cause i was hoping they would breed before sushi ate them all  okie dokie, ill take them out... how can i tell wen the mollie will pop though? was pregant at the shop so i dont know how far along she is??? guess just wait huh...

cheers again for the advice!!
