Thought it was about time I got serious with this tank. Therefore I've changed it to a shrimp tank.

Tank - Clearseal 45x30x38
Filtration - Fluval 2Plus and Air powered Sponge filter (well matured filters)
Heater - 50W
Lighting - Single 15W T8 Daylight
Decor - Mini Landscaping rocks (thank you to Aquaessentials for kindly picking out small rocks for me)
, Black sand.
Plants - I'm guessing Microsorum pteropus 'Narrow Leaf' or Microsorum pteropus 'Philippine'. I don't know.
Inhabitants - currently 2 nerite snails and the odd ramshorn and MTS.

On Tuesday I might be picking up a few Harlequin Shrimp Caridina cf. spongicola and 10 Red Cherry Shrimp.

Some pics. Oh, and I'm open to suggestions as what to put in the way of plants. I've got some Spiky moss in other tanks which I will be undoubtly adding. Crypts are another option too.

Looks a lot better in person.
Thanks for looking. Comments welcome.

the filter bacteria will die without a source of ammonia, i doubt the snails wil produce enough. fern looks like phillipine to me. this will be nice tabk with the crypts :)

No problem. I've got a bottle of Ammonia to sort that out.
Cheers.

I've just been observing the tank close up and I've spotted some tiny, clear fry. Must be Galaxy fry, because before the re-scape I had some Galaxies in there. Well, I suppose it's good news that Galaxies can breed in hard, alkaline water.

haha, thats wierd. You gonna leave um in there?

Oh and that tank looks lovely. Love the rocks. Have you thought about adding a carpet of something? the shrimp would like that. also makes the tank fill out at the left front corner. Nice rock work also :good:

I'll leave them in there. I'm not focused on raising but I'm adding some Spirulina powder to the tank to create green clouds that the fry seem to love picking at. It's very high in protein.
The tank will aventually host a lot of moss, which will fit it in a bit more.

Thats a great looking tank, the Harlequins will like the rocks.

I'm not sure how well the Cherrys and Harlequins will do together though. Sulawesi shrimp like it a lot warmer and more alkaline than Cherrys. Plus if they do breed ok the cherrys will breed a lot quicker than the Harlequins and will out compete the babies.

Hey. Thanks, I took that into consideration when planning, so I looked at planetinvert. Both can live in the same temperature range (up to 84F) and Cherries do fine in tap water around here, furthermore it sounds like tap water here is good for the Harlequin's too.
Any signs of distress then the problem will be resolved.

Never did get those Harlequins.
Tank just houses plenty of Cherry shrimp and 3 Celestial Pearl Danios raised from birth, all female. Oops, not forgetting 2 Nerite snails and lots and lots of Spike tailed MTS.

Tank of not too long ago...

Looking very nice :good: Lovely cherries. Do you have pictures of the spike tailed trumpet snails?? I'm just wondering if they are the ones in my other ID thread

I think they are the same ones I've got. Thanks :good:
