I cleaned the tank 85% of the white film came off.
Washed the gravel and filled the tank, set up filter I have to wait till next week for the heater. Added water cond. Whats my next step???
You can get some ammonia 9.5% solution (test seems to be, shake bottle (do not sniff the stuff !!! ) if bubbles go almost instantly then it's the right stuff)
Read the fishless cycling post, then start getting your beneficial bacteria growing
Agree with Tony. If you have to wait a week for your heater then you should ask yourself the question of whether you really want to live with that last 15% of hard water stain on the glass? Only you can see it and be the judge. Most of the ideas in your stain thread were good. Setting in on its side, putting on gloves, and using a plasic pot scrubber that's tough but doesn't scratch to just rub on the pool of hot vinegar for a half-hour at a time should keep slowly improving things if you decide to take another crack at it.
More likely you've had enough! ...in which case then the finding of pure household ammonia and of a good liquid-reagent based test set is the next thing to be doing. Many of us like and use the API Freshwater Master Test Kit, although the Salifert kits are even better if you can find them and are willing to put in a little extra during testing to dissolve the tablets etc.(I think..)
The finding of the right ammonia can be an adventure and the members usually enjoy hearing about it, so be sure to post your trials and tribulations. Which continent you are on makes a difference but the members can help you if needed.
