Sell them, boy is that easy!

1. There are not too many south american cichlids that are really confortable in a 40 gal. IMO Mbuna are the most interesting Africans and 40 gal is a realistic tank size for a decent Mbuna community.

2. Apart from Marine fish I think Mbuna are unrivalled in their colouration and variety, bright yellow, metallic blue, you name it they have it.

3. I have never seen fish with more character than Mbuna, these guys (and girls) are full of personality.

I could go on all day but that will do for now. Best advice I can give if you are interested is to do plenty of research, Mbuna are extremely aggressive fish and picking tankmates has to be done carefully, as does setting up the right environment for them. I do not consider this a problem, its all part of the fun. There is loads of good info on the net and you'll get no end of good advice on here. The pinned article in this forum is superb...check that out.

Trust me, you won't regret it if you decide to go with these fish! :D

Wide variety of bright vibrant colors, great characters, very responsive, fairly simple to keep without issues. Ability to mix up a variety of like-species cichlids in a community for a great group of fish! i have 9 african cichlids in a 40 gallon and couldnt be happier I look forward to a couple new 55 gallon tanks ;)

GO WITH THE CICHLIDS hehe
