40 G Tank

hi guys, after a few years, i am back in the hobby...

i have a 40 breeder... i need help stocking them...

i set up the tank month and a half ago, and borrowed 5 tiger barbs from my friends 125 G to cycle.

the tank is almost ready now... i am returning the fish back this week... i need suggestions with what fishes i can introduce to the cycled tank.

i tried researching, but just cant make up my mind, and thus asking for help...

filter: 2 HOB emperor 400 filters, one aquaball internal filter 2210

substrate: sand

heater: 200 W heater

You need to go into more detail on what you want. Community tank, Chiclid tank, Catfish only tank, African tank, Live bearer tank, etc. etc.

give me some suggestions for a community tank as well as cichlid tank please...


8 years ago, i had four 90 gallon tanks... i had no problem pick fish then... since i have downsized drastically, i am really confused as to what to put in a 40 gallon.

How about 2 shoal's of Tetras (Silver Tip and Black Skirts)and some cory cats ? I prefer smaller fish (and more of them) What is your tank pH?
