So early this morning at around 10'ish I did a water change on the fry tank. I use a small gravel vac with filter floss stuffed inside. Fry get stuck in the floss sometimes but no harm done,I just shake them out...it's much better than being snapped in half by airline tubing at this age. Anyway, when I was done I checked the floss for fry and it was clear so I chunked the drained vac on the floor and proceeded to refill their tank, knowing I was coming back in a few to change the ct grow out.

Well, things didn't go as planned and it was about 3:30 before I made it back there to do the ct's. I picked up the vac and pulled off the end and chunked the floss, snapped it back on and as I was putting it into the tank I saw a little pink baby stuck on the side of the cylinder of the vac  ...but I didn't see it quick enough because it was already going in the ct tank...where it flew out and starting swimming around frantically and of course the ct's thought it was feeding time and they plucked at it as I swatted them off and grabbed for a cup.I managed to get it out but I was sure that after 5 hours of being out of water, only in a moist atmosphere...then being attacked by ct's, that he was a goner.
He was in such shock and just pure white so I left him alone. But when I came back a few hours later he was swimming around like nothing happened so I put him back in the tank :)

Anyhoo, here are the babies as of today. Lot's of red coming in. You can see a DT behind the one on the top.

Not growing as fast as my previous spawns. I've concluded that this is because I've been treating my water differently. They've basically been getting straight tap so I'm off to the lfs to hook them up with the good stuff, tomorrow.

you should name him/her superman/woman :flex:

where it flew out and starting swimming around frantically and of course the ct's thought it was feeding time and they plucked at it as I swatted them off and grabbed for a cup.

i know it's not a funny situation but i can picture you swatting around little fish to save the one

in many ways, fry are much stronger than adults for some reason ;)

Oh I had many a choice name for them as I was trying to thump them with one hand and collect the fry with the other. Punks. :sly:

I'm sure I was a hilarious sight though  :p

Thanks for the pic compliments guys. These are the first really clear ones I've got of this spawn.

In their tanks :p This is my red plakat spawn :) Here's dad...

Looks like the fry are going to have his red eyes. My pretty orange plakat female mama has blue eyes and I see a few fry with green eyes.

They're entirely too fast to count :X I tried the other night, then I just started guesstimating groups of 10....there's well over 150 :| I'm thinking itty bitty betta was almost right on the money with his guess of 203

Thanks,Crystal :D
