4 Shops And No Glass Cats

I have only 1 glass cat and want to build up he's numbers, been to 4 lfs and none have any stock. Why do you think this is? They said they haven't got any at the moment but wouldn't say why. Is it to do with the time of year? Or is there a govenment conspiracy using glass cats to take over the world?

However, I'm with you on the conspiracy...I've seen a few hanging around street corners reading newspapers with peep holes in them...

My local pets at home dosnt store live pets, the next one is Romford, I don't drive so will be an almost 1 hr journey on buses with the fish in bags.

I've taken fish on longer bus journeys than that (I don't drive either).

Take a towel with you, and keep them wrapped up (mostly to keep them warm, but being in the dark helps reduce stress as well) and you should be fine.

Tell the shop you've got a longish journey and ask if they can use a bigger bag than normal.

Don't forget that fish can be couriered for mail order, and imported fish will be in bags for a lot longer than an hour!

Pets at Home won't sell you fish if you're travelling longer than half an hour so you might have to lie.
I brought a cooler bag from Maidenhead Aquatics - just a zip bag with insulation like a picnic box. Helps retain the temperature.
I've been to the Romford store and they have a decent selection. If you do, make sure you ring first.
Also remember a lot of imported fish are oxygen injected where as they're normally just bagged and tied in most stores.

I've never heard of P@H not selling people fish if you travel longer than a hour?
 
When the fish are sent to P@H they tend travel in boxes for over 8 or so hours. Don't see a problem... ¬.¬

They are not supposed to sell fish who are travelling further than 30-40 mins. My store rules anyway - to cover their backside incase the fish dies. When you fill out the paperwork the colleague should ask you "are you going straight home and how long does it take you?"

Also techen a lot of those fish are again, oxygen injected.
Have you seen the state of the fish when they arrive? I have... It's not nice for most.

If they don't ask how long you're travelling then fair enough.

I've traveled with fish in bags for hours and they've been fine. I find it quite harsh to object someone fish that lives a good two or three hours away. Never heard of a fish store ever do that
 
I've went to fishkeepers 2 hours away and came back with fish as well, No issues.
 
But yea, I've seen the state of fish coming out of transport but what other way is there? There's shipping them or theres not at all rofl.

Its to coincide with their 'pets before profit' policy - more important to make sure the fish is stress free than put money in the till. Can turn customers away in a multi billion pound company

Have you, you live that way? I just got 1 single glass cat ( all they had left) from urban aquatics in rainham. Had to get him it was all alone like my one. So I've helped 2 glass cats out with 1 stone. They said they should have more by next Friday .

Urban aquatics in rainham add api stress coat in the bag when buying fish. It's on their wall like a soap dispenser.
