hey guys,
when i first started out with tropical fish 3 years ago with the tiniest of tanks, i had 1 angelfish and 5 glowlight tetra. i got a bigger tank about a year after and added 5 glowlights, and just recently i've moved in with my boyfriend and he bought me a juwel vision 180 :hyper: so i added another 5 glowlights. is it too late for me to get any more angels? im assuming it is cos he's pretty big now and i don't want any new ones to be bullied by him! just think its a shame that hes in there on his own!!

cheers for any help!!

i suppose if you get one either a tiny bit bigger or tiny bit smaller you might get away you never know if you get one the opposite sex they might pair off

Doing this with angels is about 50/50 as far as compatibility. You will want to get either a similar sized angel, or several smaller ones with the understanding that you will be bringing all but one back when they get larger.

Either way, to give this a better chance of working, get a bucket, air pump & air stone, and perhaps a small heater if it is cooler indoors. After purchasing the new fish, fill the bucket with tank water, add the existing angel, air supply, and heater if needed.

Rearrange the decorations in the tank, making a sort of natural divider somewhere in the middle if possible. Angels key territory off of objects in the tank, rearranging destroys old territories. Add the new stock, dim the lights if you have no live plants, and let them be, they need to settle in a bit.

After a few hours add the old angel, keeping an eye out for any serious aggression. Expect a little chasing & nipping, if one of the fish constantly hides behind decorations, or goes horizontal at the surface, usually near a corner it is a no go.

Any decent shop will understand your situation, and have no problem with returning fish.

cool, there is hope then!!
i'm going to my lfs 2moro to get some more food anyway so i will have a chat with the guys there. i've noticed a few times that they have a random large angel amongst the smaller ones! they are very good there, best in area and very knowledgable unlike some of the staff you get at big chains!!
cheers for the advice guys!!
