Well, I have a 3G tank with 2 ADF's in it, and that's it! I had a betta in there but the one little frog nipped at his fins and they fight over food. So now I have my betta in a separate tank by himself. SO what would be good to put in this 3 gallon with 2 ADF's? And how many fish..maybe 2 or 3? Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks!

Diana

IMO there arent to many fish that can fit into a 3 gal. most need more than one and if you got one it would probably be lonly.

Hi Mike&Diana :)

I guess the first thing to ask is if you're sure they are African Dwarf Frogs and not small African Clawed Frogs? :dunno:

African Dwarf Frogs do not usually attack fish or fight over food. This sounds like the behavior of their larger relatives.

Yes, I'm positive they aren't African Clawed frogs. I checked their webbing. The betta would often be on the bottom looking for any food that he may have missed. And the frog would sometimes swim right into him, scaring him away. Do ADF's ever get territorial over the bottom part of the tank?

Hi Mike & Diana,

A bit off topic, and I'm sure you've heard this before - so if you have, just disregard this. :) You'll want to keep an eye on your Common Pleco in your 10-Gallon, those get rather large - to the tune of about 14+ inches (check out their profile here: http://www.fishprofiles.com/profiles/fw/pr...mus+plecostomus)

Please don't take offense by my post - I didn't mean any. Just thought I'd give you a friendly heads up in case you didn't already know. :D

It's possible the frogs mistook the Betta's fins for food. They do have poor eyesight. I think this is the same person(s) who posted in the Invert/Amphibian forum about the Frogs. They're not territorial and not usually aggressive.

Thanks for the replies. Yes, I did just learn that frogs have poor eyesight. That may have been what happened. I think I am going to keep my betta out of there though considering this is the second time it happened!
Would white clouds be okay in a 3g?
Mike knows about his pleco getting very large. His hasn't gotten too big yet. We bought it when it was really tiny. He will most likely be upgrading to a bigger tank sometime soon!

In a 3 gallon? I don't think so. While in size they'll fit, in activity they won't. They're a fast fish which likes a lot of room to swim in.

I GOT IT!! a FEMALE betta :D less finnage, but the ability to live well in such a small tank, and if you look around you can find pretty ones :D

Yeah, I tend to do the same thing with my Pleco. I love them - they're fun to watch, cute (in a weird sort of way) and do an awesome job without interrupting the daily life of my tank. I just keep a close eye on them - when they start to get to be too big - about 6-7 inches, which takes a while, I have a LFS that will take my bigger fish and usually, I'll get a decent credit for it. They seem to pay more / give more credit for the larger sized fish. (E.G. if you raise a fish to a good adult size, you get more money for it.) :)
