35 Gallon Tank Question

Are there any gourmai that could go in the tank?

Honey Gouramis are supposed to be pretty peaceful (have not kept them myself) and don't get too large. I think they are supposed to be about 2" adult size. As mentioned previously though, there may be a possibility that the Tigers would nip at the Gourami's 'feelers'. You might do some poking around online and see if anyone has had experience keeping Gouramis and Tigers together successfully.

Your options aren't drastically changed having a 29 Gallon versus a 35 Gallon, however you do have less gallons to work with. ;) That being said, it's not like you thought you had a 55 Gallon and only have a 29 Gallon... that would definitely impact your stocking choices.

Gouramis + tiger barbs = very bad idea for the gouramis

Wouldn't surprise me. The Tigers are such beautiful fish, but they are really hard to stock with!!!!!

So Bigd5482, basically sounds like if you want Gouramis, the Tigers have to go.

I also have a 29 Gallon with Tigers in it. I have 9 of them, 2 Red Wag Platys, and 1 BN Pleco. I really like them, but I was very weary of adding any other fish to the tank with them, so I just ended up upping the #s of the Tigers to 9 and called it a day. If you really want to keep the Tigers, they really could serve as your "Center Piece" fish, even though there's a group of them. They have great color and are fun to watch.

It all really depends on what you want out of the tank!

well just got back from rms and they will take the barbs. after thinking about it today i woild like to get some gouramis and i enjoy breeding fish hence why i had live bearers and hoping for the rams to breed. so barbs gonna go to a new home but should i give them to the store now or wait till the cycle is done?

I'd give them to the store now. They aren't all likely to survive the cycle anyway.
