My previously peaceful 35g has gone mad1 I now have 1 small dwarf guorami with a bitten tail and my 2 small clown loaches are fighting, i thought they were supposed to be peaceful? I'm thinking of moving them to my 50g but will they be o.k in there with pair of firemouths, 2 baby angelfish, 2 kissing guoramis and 2 bala sharks? I've checked water all is well.

i think the clown loaches fighting is more like loaches being loaches myself "im boss now u do what i say!" sort of thing but id say they would be fine in the 50g no worries

any idea whats bitten the gouramis tail then we can help u more :good:

I don't know, the other occupants are another female and a male dwarf guorami, 8 guppies and a black red tailed shark. The shark has never shown any interest in any of the other fish, just spends its time hoovering the tank. The 2 bigger guoramis do chase the little one though so i think it might've been them.

how big are the loaches? the grow to a foot and a 35 gallon isnt nearly suitable for them. also, they like to be in groups. this spreads the aggresion and it is not focused on one fish. i think the black shark did it but thats just me. i had a rtbs once and he used to always nip my fish so i gave him back to the lfs

i would say it was the black tailed shark. my loaches never fight, i have black skirts with my guppys and the black skirts used to nip the guppys tails. for ages i thought it was the loaches doing it!

The loaches are about 3 inches. Yes i know they get to be big but they grow slowly and was planning on moving them into my 4 foot tank soon anyway with a view to getting a bigger tank someday.

The guoramis nip each other all the time, the male used to be a nightmare for it when there were only the 2 guoramis, so much so that i put him in my spare tank for a while. While he was out i got another female, thinking it would take the pressure off the lone female. I also got the guppies on the advice of another forum user and that seemed to do the trick. Since i put the male back in he's been fine but the bigger female chases the little quite a lot. Its funny cos in all my books it says dwarf guoramis are shy and peaceful but mine certainly arent!

Unfortunately the little female died last night. Now i don't know what to do, i saw the black shark chasing the guppies just now but the male dwarf gourami is chaing the other female again. Should i move the shark into my big tank? There are little baba sharks in there.

what kind/color are you guppies? rtbs's are territorial and can be aggresive when they see other fish that are the same color. they think that they are other rtbs's which they will fight with.
sorry about your loss

Don't know what typr they are, the majority are orangeyellow, a couple are greyish blue with orange tails.
