hi there , im just wondering if its suitable for a beginner to start with a cichlid tank? also what fish to get if its suitable for a begginer, and are they harder to look after?????????????

thanx to all replys

That tank is not even 3 foot long, and mbuna would be a poor option for that tank unless you are very careful and choose one of the few species that would actually work long term. Most mbuna - most Malawis - are simply too aggressive or too big or too active for such small tanks.

What about some Kribs? They're good beginner African cichlids. Your tank is big enough for you to be able to house a pair comfortably and some other fish.

Cheers.

Look into shell dwellers or Julidochromis.
OR - South American dwarfs would work well in that tank.

i would only recomend community fish for your first tank.yes these fish are hardy but they can get expensive once you lose a few.community fish are cheaper and easier to handle.

Community fish ex. tetras,mollies,platys,guppies etc...
