Evening all, hope this quick thread you all well.

Quick history for those unaware.... my 120L tank has to be put into hibernation for a few years (Jnr's arrival!), so i aim to continue my love for the hobby by re-setting up my original, 'starter' tank from 3/4 years ago, namely an AquaOne 30L corner tank with small internal filter.

What i hope to do is something like this;
An initial mixture of Tesco low dust cat litter, mixed with some sort of slow release planter fert (miracle-gro 1KG tubs look appealing).
Cover with some sort of garden centre netting to minimise the mixture of the eventual substrates (but with gaps wide enough to allow for the rooting of my plants).
A final layer of the sand that i currently have in my 120L, which will otherwise be spread out the garden!

I hope to stock a Betta, with a fleet of Red Cherry Shrimp, paying particular attention to what real plants the R.C.S would prefer to live and breed in.... some small bogwood (preferably running up the side/back of the tank as some point) covered in moss and/or fern.

Can anyone see any issues with my idea? Does anyone currently run something similiar?

Terry.
