Hey there,

i am currently in the process of resetting up my second tank...i previously was running a 30 litre biorb tropical set up. However have just moved all the fish to a brand new 190 litre tank.

I am thinking of setting up the biorb again maybe as a betta tank with maybe a cory at the bottom?

i know the rocks they supplied with the biorb were sharp, and a bit ugly looking too! and unsuitable for majority of bottom feeders.

If i change the rocks at the bottom and substitute them for gravel which is slightly smaller will this effect the "biorb" filtration and therefore have a major effect on the tank.

I would be grateful if anyone could let me know or had experience in this any suggestions are welcome

thanks

Corys need substrate with no sharp edges, also corys should be kept in groups of no less than 3.

Get Pygmy corys, a small group would do well together. However from experiance of all the LFS's i go into, i havent seen one yet sell any, so if you were left with no option but to buy the larger species and had your heart set on them, id say get albinos. Dont know about others but mine are more active compared to the peppered cory cats, they look kinda cool being that colour and they also only grow to 2 inches max compared to 2.5 inches max of the others such as peppered panda etc etc (from what iv read).

I have a 10 gallon with 3 peppered in and 2 albino cory cats in (along with a betta). They all get on well, have plenty of space to swim (tank is wider than most 10 gallons = more room for corys to swim along bottom), places to hide and full of sand which they love to dig in and lie on. Tank is regularly cleaned and tested, so everythings going smooth and well looked after. All the cory cats are relatively small compared to the ones my dad has downstairs and his arent even fully grown yet, but if they do become too big theyl be going in the tank downstairs.

With the biorb though there isnt much surface area on the bottom for the corys, especially if youre going to have that air thing in the middle along with ornaments. So if you did get any, try and get pygmys as theyre the most appropriate from what iv read.

Me too I havent seen any cories in our local LFS
