Hi all,

I have had my 3 spotted gourami for about a year now, and the other morning when
I looked into the tank, he/she looked like this:

I'm pretty sure that kink in its back wasnt there before... can anyone shed any light
on whats happened?

Thanks!!

Hi, can you please post your water parameters and set-up information?

Kitty Kat is asking if you know your nitrite, nitrate and ammonia readings. Do you have a test kit to check this?

I dont know the parameters, and dont have a test kit either. Will take a sample to the
pet store and get it checked!

thanks!

you are much much better off getting a kit for yourself. Trusting the the pet store to test is not well advised unless you know the store very well and they have a great reputation for fish care. Otherwise they may be inclined to simply state "everything is fine.....now would you like to buy more fish?"

Well, it does look obviously unwell from the photo.. but it is impossible to tell what the problem is caused by or even what the problem is (other than stress). For me, the easiest way, in this case, is to work by eliminating potential problems one by one until we are left with the cause. The most obvious problem is usually water quality, poor set up or bad tank mates, so that is where we should start.
