3 Spot Gouramis

Can I keep different species of gouramis with my 2 blue gouramis? If so how many and what species?

I have at one point had about 4 kinds of gouramis in the tank at once and one was a 3 spot. I found find to be quite aggressive towards the other gouramis and other finsh in the tank

All I know is most gouramis are peaceful but can become territorial towards other gouramis.
I at the moment have a pearl grouamis and have always had them and they don't worry other fish as long as nothing bothers it.

I'm sorry but the blue or 3 spot grouamis is probably the only one I wont keep again because it can get quite agressive towards other fish no matter of size.

Then again depending on how big your tank is it maybe fine as long as they have there own areas.

If I was going to put a different gourami with a 3 spot then I would go a Pearl, moonlight due to size. I am sure there are more out there and they do come in different colours.
You may be able to find some yellow 3 spots to go with your blue

Hope this helps

ok thanks what about paradise gourami err fish

Firstly, what sexes are your three-spots and how large? Also, what size tank do you have?

If you own a pair (ie a male and female) why not get some more females, of the same size but of a different color morph? Gold, opaline, lavender, platinum - these are all the same species as the blue gourami (ie Trichogaster trichopterus - the three-spot gourami). If you have two females, again, you can just add more females but of different colors.

If you have 2 males, they are probably still young or else one will clearly have started to be bullied. It would be a good idea to remove one of the two, in this case, and replace him with several females.

Pearls are a bad idea - they tend to get bullied by three-spots. Equaly, I'd avoid any paradisefish. Besides the fact that two males will fight to the death, they are smaller than three-spots and therefore are likely to be attacked if they try to infringe on the established fish' territory/ies.

You need to udenrstand that absolutely any gourami added to the tank right no will be seen as an intruder and attacked. You can reduce the aggression by adding several new fish at a time and by re-aranging the tank beforehand. Lowering the temperature a tad helps also and you must make shure there are plenty of hiding places and, especialy, tall or floating plants.
