I am asking you guys now because I MIGHT not be on for another 3 months. I am going to start breeding betta's. Not pet store VT's or PK's. But a breed I can sell and people will want :good: I am just asking you guys which breed you think I should breed? I am going to do one out of these 4. I want to do all 4 but since I will be new getting into it I am starting with one. HMPK's, PK's, HM's, or DT's? I like them all but I can only do one. What do you guys think :X Its a hard decision for me!

I think you should breed what you like best...but I can tell you that breeding for DTs isn't exactly the same as breeding for all the others that you've mentioned. The DT gene is recessive, so if you breed two DTs, you could get a high number of DTs, but you'll be likely to also have a large amount of deformed fry. It's best to try and breed two bettas that are recessive for the DT trait, or a DT with another that has the recessive DT trait. You still won't get all DTs, but you might get some that way.

i also agree on this dont do DT, i would do the hmpk a lot more attractive than the pk and still holds the resistance to finrot, with it being your first spawn its so easy to make mistakes and the last thing you want is to have to cure finrot on juvi fry that are close to selling point, it will mess things up for you. after you get the hang of the water changes, feeding, etc... then you can go into the other strains, spawning is nothing like what you read on the net, the net is a basic guideline and it never goes as planned.

Id go with just simple Pks, you dont have to worry about getting the 180.

why go for something that isnt in fashion at the moment? a nice strain it is but hmpk so much better and a genotype of the hmpk will sell as well as an obvious.

I have a HM male so I might start with a HM and then after getting more experience in breeding *Since I have only bred once before* and then start thinking about getting a show/sell stock of a different breed.

In fashion  their your little fashion accessories are they modaz :sly:

I agree though HMPK's, even better dragon HMPK's

EEP! Yeah your right, are your fishys your little purses?

I would like a breed with less defects. I really am not wanting hard problems because I am a newbie Betta Breeder .For now its not to much about selling as it is experience.

Well, for a first time, if you're going to be buying new bettas (which I assume you will), try and go like with like (blue HM male to a blue HM female). I know you said you had a HM male. How long have you had him? If you're not going to start for another three months, he'll probably be at a minimum of seven months by that time. Bettas are in their prime for breeding at under a year (younger is better), the older they get, the more difficult it usually is.

i dont know what you mean :shifty: gotta admit though i would rather a nice betta than a pair of designer

My male is older so I am thinking about doing HMPK. They are very pretty fish. I want to start with a simple color though. Blue, Red, Pinkish Orange, just a one colored pair.
