This morning i came down and found one of my female guppies, 1 neon and my poor angel dead in my tank and i am also missing 4 other neons. I can probably put the missing neons down to the angels but i cannot understand the others. My stats are all fine 0 ammonia, 0 nitrites and 0 nitrates. Any ideas anyone? I dont wanna loose any more???

Any signs to go on like being thin, pale, darker in colour, gasping, or laboured breathing, flicking and rubbing.

thats what is even stranger. I havn't noticed any other symptoms at all? I have lost another 2 neons tonight.

Have the angels eaten them.
Have any of your neons have a bleached out white colour in the red stripe area.

I have only found 1 of the neon bodies. Today i have also lost 1 smallish angel and another smallish angel which has totaly disapeared without a body or anything? Something is going on in my tank and i don't know what but if it doesn't stop soon then i wont have any fish left. I know theres not much to go on but has any one got any ideas? Cheers guys

Your nitrates shouldnt be 0. It may be worth rechecking your levels with another test kit to see what they are. A reading of 0 would point to a filter that isnt cycled. How long has the tank been set up? Did you cycle the tank before adding the fish?

My nitrates show up as 10 on my kit but as 0 on my lfs test. It has been set up for about 3 months and i cycled with fish in and have added them gradually. They were doing fine until i bought 5 guppies from my lfs which all died within 5 days and since then i have been loosing quite a few. I now wish i had quarentined them.

I havn't cleaned the filter. How can i do this? I have 2 external filters. Do i need to totaly empty them of water? or do i just leave the water in there and lift the trays out? I know to clean the media in tank water not tap water.

Did you file a missing fishes report with your local fish department? :)

Had guppies and they tend to have camallanous worms.
If they are all dead need to look further to see if its the cause of there deaths and others in the tank.
Signs of internal parasites are as follows.
Being thin, but can also can bloat up.
Long stringy white poo.
Red inflamed or enlarged anus.
Worms prutruding from the anus.
Internal parasites damage the organs and cause bacterial infections on top.

sounds to me like a cat problem. my friends cat would swat the fish out of the tank and eat them. the ones he couldnt get out he would smack at and eventually kill them.

I don't think its a cat problem as i don't have a cat lol.

I am now getting seriously worried that I am going to loose all my fish. I keep loosing them at a rate of about 2 or 3 a day. There are no apparent symptoms they just keep dying with no warning. so far i have lost

. 3 Angels
. Approx 6 guppies
. 7 Neon Tetras
. 1 platy

I have a small spare tank is there anything i can do to transfer all these over to the smaller tank and then clean this tank in some way. The other tank isn't cycled though. Is there any generic treatment i can use that will treat a wide range of diseases? Please help guys sorry to be a pain!!

Without any symtoms it's hard to pin point it.
Usually when you lose alot of fish we tend to say go in with a bacterial med.

Did any of your neons have a bleached out look in the red stripe area.
You need to answer these question.
Any fish with long stringy white poo.

My neons seem ok (i'm guessing that relates to NTD) I have been keeping an eye out for white stringy poo and havn't seen any.... Until now that is. Maybe that is what is causing the problems. I am going to get some internal parasyte med from my lfs when i go out soon. Hopefully that may sort the problem.

Thats the problem you can't buy internal parasite meds from the lfs.
Waterlife meds says it might treat them but it dosn't tryed it years back.
The only med that treated them was flubenol its been taken off the market.

For now I would add a bacterial med with losing so many fish.
Keep a close eye on them.
Good luck, it never rains but pours.
