I got some bettas imported from Thailand about a week or so ago.

3 of them have already died from who knows what, and now 3 more of them don't look so good.

I'm guessing it's something I've done because they would have had to clear quarantine before I got them.

On one of the fish that died, it looked like it sort of had white spot or some sort of fungus. I'm not 100% sure on it though! But I do know that it seemed like they lost their colour and faded away.

Now the other 3 that seem sick are just laying on the bottom of their seperate containers that I have put them in.

One of them looks like it might have what the other had, so I put some multi cure in there to treat for white spot or fungus disease incase that's what it is.

Anyone have an idea what it could be and how I can help it?

You say you've got them in containers??... What size containers.... is there any aeration in there are there heaters in there??... It's always better to positively identify the disease before adding any medicines.

any chance of a pic?

temperature shouldn't be an issue at this time of year unless the fish are in an air conditioned room. Then it might be too cold for them.

You could try changing the water in their containers twice a day. Tip it out, rinse the container with some tank water, then refill it with clean tank water from another tank without bettas in.
If you use tap water to refill their containers, make the water up at least 24hours before you use it. Add some dechlorinator and aerate the water.

What are you feeding the fish, and are they eating anything?

Ok. it's definately a fungus disease.

I lost another one tonight and it looks like one of the others will be gone by morning too :-(

They are in seperate containers, about 1.5ltrs each.

They are both being treated with Multi Cure at the moment. It looks like I may have caught one fish at the early stages, but poor Elita looks like she is struggling. It seems difficult for her to reach for air, so I have emptied out a lot of the water so she can easily access some air.

I'm going to the lfs tomorrow to see if I can get some salt or something, but I guess it is too late to try that now?

We have been having high 30degree days here in Australia, so I have put the containers outside to soak up some heat because I have the air con on inside :p

Also, they aren't eating anything. When I drop in a bloodworm or something, you can tell they want to eat it, but just can't.

Is there anything else I can do?

are you sure they're not too warm? 1.5lts of water can get very warm in sunshine heat surely? then being brought back insoors in an air conditioned room must make the temp fluctuate terribly for them?

Mmm I did think of that, but my boyfriend told me off about leaving them outside to cook, so I brought them back in.

They aren't in the direct sunlight, they are on a table under our back decking area.

What do you suggest I do?

I woke up this morning and they were still alive. I'm not sure if this was the right thing to do, but I thought I would give it a try anyway...

I put some liquid fry starter in their containers because I figured it is little food particals, and as the fish is opening it's mouth for air and that, the particals would go inside. Is that a silly way to think about it?

I really don't want Elita to die :-(

fish won't eat when they are sick and there is no need to feed them any way. Any food that goes into the tank, be it pellets, live food, or liquid fry, will simply rot and cause water quality problems, thus making their problems worse. Fish can go for weeks or even months without food. This is because they take their body temperature from the surrounding water, unlike mammals that use most of the food they eat to keep warm.
Live daphnia would be the best food because it can swim aorund and won't cause any water qualty problems unless it dies, which it probably will do if the container is out in the summer sun.
