Hey guys,

another problem with nipped fins, a different tank. Basicaly, before i had a male swordtail n loads of guppys in a 96litre tank and established that he was nipping the guppy's fins. The guppies have been moved to a different tank and hes with gouramis and hatchetfish... a lot smaller than them but still looking like the boss! lol!

Anyway, now i have 4 guppies in a smaller tank and the rest of them i gave to a friend. Of the 4 guppies i have 3 females and 1 male as this has been described as an ideal ratio (the other being 2:1). The one male that i have is being chased around a lot by the females and sure enough he has nipped fins! Most perculiar as from my experience as well as what ive heard, the males are meant to be the ones stressing the females out!!! :/

Are all three females chasing him, or is it just one aggressive one?
Some females will chase the male away when they have been harassed a lot.

How big is the tank and how old are the fish?

2 of the 3 females have been seen chasing the male. The tank hold about 45litres and ive had the fish for nearly 2months or so.

Some females are just naturally more aggressive. It is very strange though that they are nipping the male's fins....usually they just chase them. Are you sure it isn't fin rot? And do you have any other fish besides the Guppies in the tank? :)
