I've got 2 JBL 500g cylinders on offer. Getting rid as I'm upgrading. I would like £35 each or both for £60 but that would include postage. To get a refill just take it to a LFS and swap it for a full one, it costs around £10 depending on the shop. You can get other cylinders, but JBL is by far the most widely accepted. If you are able to pick them up from Oxford, I can give you one half full, but I cant post a pressurised cylinder its illegal. Having two means you can have a full one spare so if you run out you wont be lacking any in the tank while you get a refill.
For those wanting to set up a pressurised CO2 system you will need the following as a minimum.
Regulator - get a good one, avoid JBL regs they are the worst IMHO, the one I linked to is the best I can find for the money, never had a problem with mine.
CO2 tubing - dont use normal air tubing, it'll degrade due to the CO2.
diffuser - there are several types,
- ladder - it'll work but there are better and it looks unsightly IMHO!
- cermaic - these are excellent IMO, relatively cheap, look good and diffusion rates are very high, if you feel rich how about an ADA diffuser!
- Inline - relatively expensive but you get 100% diffusion, you'll also need an external filter
Simple at that!
Optional extras if you feel like slashing out
- solenoid - aquamedic do a good one, but there are places on ebay that do them, not used one yet, its on order. They mean you can automatically turn the CO2 off at night, which gives the fish get a break from the CO2 which builds up during the night as plants dont take in CO2. Obviously turning it off at night means you dont waste any as well
- pH probe - never used or seen one but supposedly very good. You set the pH level you want in the tank and it keeps it at this level by adding or reducing the level of CO2. This means you can get a nice stable 30ppm Co2 in the tank, and that's half the battle!
Any more questions, etc PM me
