Gettin back into it all after 4 yrs off

so, was havin a clean out (mostly in daughters bedroom) we decided t put the hamsters in my dauers bedroom (they were in the living room in the 4ft tank) with them being moved it created an awufull big gap in our living room so i asked the bf wht he would like to go there.... he said 'why not set up the 2fter?'

i couldnt belive it, this tank was stripped down way before xmas thinkin it would never be used again... but it is... its now sitting there full of water a nice layer of sand an a few rocks in it.... seeing as it was the bfs idea iv decided to let him have it, he buys the things it needs (dosnt need much, lights and a new hood decor an fish) he does the water changes ect...


i cant belive iv actualy got him intot he hobby, he said he prefered it when i had only my 2fter... didnt like the idea of me havin that an 2 biggish tanks on the go.... so u never know... maybe if i get him into this in a big way ill be resetting up the 4fter ;)



and hes also agreed to help me restock the 3fter on not only fish but plants an decor too :D ... he just dosnt know what hes got himself in for :D
 
well i did have 3 in the house on the go... iv had a total of 5 passing through this house...


i dont mind.. he seems realy into it... its just hard explaining thsat he cant have.. well big fish :( or many fish lol



its cycling atm, its got a fully loaded filter on the go, with some of my smaller fish in there... (i know this isnt acceptible) but as its a fully loaded filter (as in its been runnin in my tank for months an months an months ) then his tank is well ajusted... just gotta keep an eye on it.


he still dosnt like my idea of a 2ft planted tank though... he wants fake (shudders) as in pink fake :crazy:
 
I see I'm not the only one moving hamsters around... I had to try to arrange a 2.5 ft hamster cage, a 1.5 ft hamster cage and a 1 ft fish tank on my desk.... the fish tank overhangs by 3cm and the 1.5ft hamster cage overhangs by 20cm..... Not too good.

Anyway, if he wants pink plastic, let him have it - he'll enjoy it more if he gets his way for a while... you can always change it later you know when he's already addicted and there's no turning back... Oh we are all so evil! :D

you can replace it when he's not looking. and if he asks you can just say "oh that? yeah it died." :p :lol:
 
hmmm for some reason i dont think he would belive a pink plastic plant had died (at all no matter what state he was in!) lol :p


theres this thing though.... when i first set my first tank up (can u follow that??? lmao) it was all real plants...



hes now threatened to have one of them realy cheesy no fishing thingys goin on :sick:

i see divorce on the cards even before we have married :crazy:

You know, they have little scuba divers that sink to the bottom then come up and then go back down. Really cute. I would never let one near my tanks.

hes got peppered corys.. and danios and flames... 2 frogs and bristlnose plec thats about it :)


hes opted for live plants :rolleyes:


one frightfull moment was when he got the 'ornement' its basicaly shaped like drigtwood/wooden stump but it had all orange things commin out of it (think they were supposed to be imitation cambomba (sp) stems) anyways he thought it was cool.... looked alot better once them bits were ripped right off :)

hes opted for no backing and hes had a section of my driftwood..

have to say its lookin smart.. didnt realise how much i missed my 2fter ;)


oh an the 3ft has had a make over as well :)


hopefully will be able to get the cam workin soon. so that i can give you all some :kewlpics:
 
I am serioulsy tempted to make a cheesy betta tank just to annoy people. The full works. Multicolour gravel, no fishing signs, really bad plastic plants... Moo ha ha ha :sly:

this was how my 2ft used to look when i first got into the hobby... whats wrong i hear u say??? yeah the plants are nice fish are cute (urrgggh livebearers) but take a look at the gravel..


i even got a bright betta to match the gravel
