Alright, so after my saltwater tank is gone my 29gallon tank is going to be a community tank, I was wondering if this would alright as stocking goes.

6x Albino cory catfish
8x Neon tetras
8x glowlight tetras
5x red minor tetra
5x oto cat
2x gold mystery snail

and that may be all. Would that be alright? Do I still have some extra room to add any other fish?

Aswell, the tank will have an aquaclear 50 running on it, aswell as a penguin bio-wheel 20, so 70gallons total filtration, I'm planning on have a sand base and I may (lightly) plant the tank with things such as Cabomba, and then add some fake plants. Does all sound good??

My second choice for the tank would be:

6x Tiger Barbs
6x Green Tiger Barbs
6x Albino Tiger Barbs
5x Albino Corys
3x Oto cats
2x Gold mystery snails.

Tank would only have 50gallons filtration and only planted with fakes. Still a sand bottom.

people put oto cats in Dwarf puffer tanks, I'm pretty sure that if 3 can survive in a 10gallon tank, then they'll be alright in my 29gallon. But, mabye not, either way I'll find something for the algea clean up, thanks for the input.

Are the stocking levels alright for these tank ideas? Do I have room for more?

otos prefer groups of 6+.
i also agree that 3 is too many for that stocking. the snails will help with the algae.

i think you prety stocked. i wouldnt add anything, but i would take away the otos

Alright, thanks for the adive, but which one is umm... less stocked I guess? The community based set-up or the Tiger barb tank?

If I was to go with the community would I have room for anything else? Or would I atleast be able to keep (3 at the minimum) oto cats?

i would say no, if there is no direct source of algae their diet will be off. they prefer groups of 6+ so 3 would stress them out. and i dont think your filter could handle it.

how many GPH are your filters? in total.
with all that filtration, you might have too much curent for many fish.

ive kept 3 oto cats and all of them starved in a 20 gallon tank full of diatoms since they ate it all, didnt accept food that i gave them, and starved to death.

Thats why i dont think otos should go in anything less than a 55 gallon

Ahh, well when you guys explain it like that I won't be getting any oto cat's then :good:

So I think my final stock for the tank will be (a little altered since I don't have the otos anymore)

6x Albino Cory catfish
10x neon tetras
10x glow light tetras
2x gold mystery snails
and (instead of the red minor tetras) 6x Zebra Danios

Should this be alright??
