Ok so I have a 20 gallon take at the moment with 2 clown loaches 5 tiger barbs a one Sail fin Pleco. My question is would a 28 gallon be good for those fish seeing that what they are in now. It would be a hole new setup. Second could i take the water thats in my 20gl tank and put in the new one to speed up the cycle process? the tank is mad by Marina Land.

Thanks,
Chris

The clown loaches are too big for either tank. They can get up to a foot long (though 8-10 inches is more likely). I'm not sure about sailfin plecs, a lot of plecs get very big but others are a reasonable size so it might be ok (I;m sure someone that knows about these fish wil be along shortly :) ).

The clown loaches might be ok for a year or two but they do grow pretty quickly so you will need to rehome them eventually. It is a shame that clown loaches are such a common fish to buy as they really need to be in a large group in a very big tank and this is not often explained when people buy them.

yeah thats why am getting the 29gl cause of the clowns i would go bigger but i dont have the room at the the time. i wont have the tiger barbs after today due to the fact the they are the bullies.

Still not a big enough step-up. Loaches should be kept in good group sizes; I'd say 5 or more at least. I wouldn't have clown loaches in anything smaller than a 75 gallon myself... but I do love big groups. Best thing to do is rehome the clown loaches and go for kuhlis instead. Unfortunately, the sailfin plecs get huge, so I'd rehome that also.

What kinda setup/fishes are you looking at to replace the tiger barbs?
