Hi,
I just picked up a 220 gallon tank with a sump used. My question is- the sump it came with is a 30 gallon.... is that big enough? He had the tank running for 5 years with it.
What is your opinion?
BTW, I'm using the 220 for 4 oscars and a pacu. They're in a 125 gallon currently. Thought I would give them more space.
Thanks.

A 30 gallon sump will hopefully be big enough to hold all the water from the main tank when the pump is turned off. I personally like a sum to be half the size of the main tank but smaller sums are fine as long as they don't run dry between water changes and as long as they can hold the extra water that drains from the main tank when the return pump goes off.

Sumps terrify me so I can't offer any advice! But definitely want to see some pics of this!

That sounds good. Thanks,... I thought it was too small.
I'll do some water tests to see if it overflows.... like you mentioned.
