22 Days Later I'm Getting Fish

I have been told in the UK it is difficult to get ammonia.
If going to Homebase is a difficult task then yes I suppose it would be.

Most fish shops won't recommend fishless cycling as they know nothing about it and just don't want to know either. They're much happier sticking to out dated methods and selling newbies bacteria in a bottle products which are total c**p and don't do what they're supposed to. I have never found any employee in any LFS I've been to who knows much if anything about fishless cycling. It is an internet phenomenom and that's unfortunately what it will stay. This is a shame as if shops began recommending it less fish would suffer. There is still a huge number of people who find this forum and who's first ever post is about fish acting strange or deaths in their tank. 99 times out of 100, they've not cycled, know nothing about cycling and have been told by some weekend teenage employee that they just need to leave the tank empty for a week running the filter and then they can stick a few fish in.

The best way to prepare your tank for fish is a fishless cycle over a few weeks with ammonia solution running a filter which you have seeded with matured media. End of story.

Thanks for the replys guys, I just hope the LFS boss sells me the fish tomorrow, if not I'll have to travel a few miles to go to the other shop.
As you can see from my results I'm ready for them, fishless cycle in my mind was and is the way to go.

water change and temperature change tomorrow morning then off I go tomorrow afternoon for some fish.

And from another quote!!!
That is quite possibly the most difficult to read or understand post I have ever seen. You seem to be contradicting yourself with every other sentence, sorry.

The LFS WILL talk you out of fishless cycling. Flash 22 said it best in that you arent spending money on fish and having to replace them as they die from ammonia and nitrite poisoning. If the LFS would just sell ammonia they would be OK with it I bet.

So I can get it at homebase and its called ammonia what strength etc and does it tell you how much per tank???

The best way to get people to come on board with anything is to be patient with all those that do not understand.

It is obvious that you both seem to be "Trolling" with your comments I will not hesitate if it continues to let the moderator know as it is not called for.

Just happy it is not everyone and this is a good forum and some are prepared to give good advice.
