My mom and I just got a free 210 with glass lids and are picking it up on Thursday (happy early birthday to me)

They’re not giving us the stand, so will have to build one ourselves which will take some time considering I am largely bedridden most days. But I’m very very excited to jump back into fishkeeping, I miss it so much.

We plan to heavily plant it and stock it extremely lightly since I am currently not medically able to do significant tank maintenance. Probably will start with a large shoal each of corydoras and some type of tetras. Once it’s set up and the planted cycle is started I’ll probably pick up the fish from wetspot, since I have to go to Oregon anyway to see one of my surgeons

Nice.
Looking forward to your entering that tank in the Tank of the Month contest. ;)

By the way, are you still participating in the Art Battle competition tomorrow?

And now a warning. I have a lovely 150 gal tank. I am having to give it up. The reason is I just turned 77 and to work on the tank I need a 3 step small A-frame ladder. Soooner or later I am going to fall off that ladder and break a few bones. So I am about to have to sell the tank and the clown loaches it holds as well as the filtrations, lights, lids and a forest of anubias attached to Malaysian driftwoood. I already emptied and shut down the 125. This was before they were filled and stocked after they went in. I built the stands inside taht room.

Please bear this in mind when you build the stand. I have an inwall 75 that has a similar problem. I was quoted a price of $1,000+ to lower that tank so I can work in it without needing a ladder. *sigh* I think I may do it.

Juice, please be careful so you are not at risk of falling off a ladder. I want you to most certainly to outlive me.

Thank you! I will keep that in mind. I won’t be doing most of the tank maintenance as at this point in time I can hardly walk, let alone climb a ladder, I’ll be employing my family to help out.

So the ladder shall not be the end of me, however I make no guarantees on outliving you at this point in my life 😅

Oh wow this sounds incredible!! I'm so happy for you!!
Ey, maybe I'll have to come over there and see it one day in person some years down the road 😉😆

Stock that big aquarium lightly with lots of plants and there shouldn’t be too much maintenance to do . If it was me I’d use an electric pump to do my water changes . That’s too big of an aquarium even for a Python .
That’s my plan! I prefer small fish, lightly stocked and heavily planted anyway so I’m very excited

Corydoras and a healthy amount of small beautiful schooling/shoaling fish would be awesome!!

Of course your choice I'm just rambling loll.
This is so epic though. I'm excited to see how this all turns out for you!!

Of course I'm kidding but I now hate you and will forever. I would give up my right eye to be able to have a tank like that! LOL! Actually I am totally blind in my right eye so no big loss. ;) Consider that this will be a LOT of weight on the floor. As an average that size tank averages at 2,600 pounds. We are talking about over 1.25 ton. No way would I do such a tank unless I was on the ground floor and the foundation was really solid.

Yes! This section of our house actually used to be the attached garage before the previous owners renovated it, and is very solid cement underneath the vinyl flooring.

We finished the stands frame tonight, made with 2x6s and plywood.

Just a right eye ? And one that’s “ on the blink “ anyway ? I would give a lower left reproductive appendage for that big aquarium . You know what I’m talking about . 😆
