20w Reflector Hood (what Plants Can I Grow)

its a 37g tall tank. The hood is a 30" flourecent reflector hood w/ a 20w builb. A light addition at my LFS was around $250 and thats a little out of my pricerange right now. Are there still good options for plants? Any input would be great as this doesnt seem like a good question to ask my LFS for they will just say "oh yea it will grow," while really thinking "ill see you back in here in a few weeks buying more plants to replace it after it dies." lol
