I have a 20g tank that I got a garage sale. It used to house a lizard. My question is what is the best way to clean the tank so it can be used to house fish?

here is a link that tells how to sanitize a tank. To be safe after you sanitize it I would fill it with water and lots of salt, and maybe about 5 times the regular amt of dechlor, empty it, then fill it with water and regular or maybe 2x dechlor and let it sit a couple of days before adding any fish. If you have any chlorine test you can make sure it has none in it before adding fish. Good luck!

oh bugger.

I dumped about 5 lbs of gravel into a bucket and put bleach in to disinfect it. I just read the link and discovered gravel and rocks may absorb bleach.
frick. frick. frick.

is this where I throw out all my gravel or is there a way to save it?

I would buy new. At least gravel isn't too spendy I guess.
