Hi guys basically im trying to work out the overall power usage of my tank as my step dad is being a bit ermmmm i wont described how with the electricity bill and im adamant that its not my fault!

ive got everything else calculated but will my 200w heater be on constantly? or does it only turn on when there is a fluctuation in the temperature?

I only ask this as i caught a glimpse of someone saying they are not on all the time??

Thanks
Paul

no will not be on all the time only when the temp drops below what its set to difficult to gage how much that will be you could always watch it for an hour and calculate that x 24 if it has a light to indicate its on!

not that I would!! haha

There not on all the time unless its really cold they have a thermostat.

Ive gone from a small internal filter and 200w heater to a large fluval external 305 and a 300w heater and twin 36w lights instead of 1 18w and noticed no difference.

Ive got 4 tanks going and two have twin air pumps and all have lights and i only use about £7-£10 a week electric and that's all my house stuff too like 42inch TV, two laptops, HTPC, washing machine ect..
