200l Tank Journal

So I thought I'd make a start to my own journal. I have a 200L fish tank and have many plans for it.

This is what my tank looks like, pretty much what I got with it when I bought it really.

Today I bought two bags of sand and a biiiig bucket. So I'll be washing it and sticking the sand in today.

Once the sands set I can stick my fish back in and I'll need to get myself some plants.

So I got out all I could of the blue rocks, there was a tiny bit left but am pretty sure the sand took care of it. Anyway I washed the sand in my bath, the shower is great for that.

I saw a vid on youtube about laying sand without it clouding and tried it, it failed quite badly.

And no my fish are not in that.

So I had to take the sand back out and wash it once again but I think I got it sorted for now.

My catfish seem to love it too.

Next I'll be ordering some plants and cleaning up the sand abit.

Looks better with the sand, one thing to note is that there are some air bubbles in there if you want to get rid of them just run something through all of the sand, I use planting tongs but don't know if you have those yet

Waited for so long but I got my box today and a TON of cotton for my filter. It may last me YEARS.

Inside magic box

Starting to use prime now, Don't like the other brand stuff. Plants looked fine after sitting in the depot for 3 days.

So this is where I am at the moment, I poured boil water over my wood and put it in the shower to clean then slapped it inside. I put the moss and such on the tree but I was told not to put the other plants on it.

Anyway am a huge newbie for plants so any information would be epic! I did feed them neutro T so I hope they start growing soon.

Dude, the pots you have in the sand should be on the wood and the Hydro you have on the wood should be in the sand lol, that was what I said in chat.

Choice is your mate but I'm not a fan of ornaments so I'd get rid of them.

It's rather blank without them and my corys hide in them. I'd prefer giving them some hiding places for now.

haha sorry but what steveo said made me laugh about your plants i agree with steveo as well with ornaments but again my opinion i'm sure your fish love them able to swim in and out of them and like you said gives them some where to hide if need be

still tho it looks like a very nice tank what plans do you have to add more fish? gona get a BN pleco again?

I may give in and swap my sand for dirt/soil. Any ideas what I should buy and would it be okay for corys?
