200 Litre

hi. I'm soon to get a 200 litre fluval roma (the one with a new cabinet design), and was wondering if someone could advise on a nice stock. Thanks

what sort of fish do you like?

will anything else be in the tank fish wise before you add new stock?

If you try and research what YOU would like then put your ideas in a post, you'll get the better answers you're looking for.

Please don't think i am trying to be rude in anyway here, i'm not, but i found that if i posted a couple of questions looking for info on fish that i liked the look of/could keep then i got the answers i wanted on a much clearer scale.

Hope this helps.
Terry.

bristlenose plecos, corydoras brochis, buenoisarie tetras. upside-down catfish? loads of possibilities

Yes; I have the Argos stuff, but they're all much of a muchness. tbh. Just wash it really, really well, and when it's done, do it again or it'll cloud your tank :)

IF it all goes Pete Tong with the sand, here's what did (Because i washed it into smaller granules i swear, and it didnt work!)

Turn the filter off. (Leave it in the tank, but try and protect the inlets)
Leave to settle for an hour
Do a full water change, leave just a few mm above the sand
Refill the tank, taking care not to disturb the sand (Put a small plate on the sand, and pour onto it)
Switch you filter back on

You might like to do another water change a day or two after. Personal preference, i did, and it only settled my mind, not much difference in the tank!

Better than all the above, get the sand bit sorted before you get your fish and filter out of the other one. All the rest still applies however. Its better to get the cloudy c rap out in water changes, rather than clog up the filter when it goes in.

And on the subject of Corys, with a tank that size, you could have a little army of them in there :)

This would make a very very nice planted tank. Is it running T8's or T5's?

I would stock with an unusual Cory and then a nice shoaling species such as the Tetra's you mention or Rasbora's. You could also add some Kuhli Loaches for an extra something for the bottom.

Rummynoses, Pengiuns, Cardinals, Platinum, Flame, Rosy Tetra's would all be good choices, as do Harlequin Rasbora's, Scissortail Rasbora's, Elegant Rasbora's etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc

there really is loads and loads of options.
