20 L Tank Stocking

I may be getting a free 20 L tank so i was wondering about stocking

I know a male betta is an option, as is a shrimp tank but other than that is there anything else? I know this is a small tank so it is quite limited and I'm likely to only have the one species

I was wondering about lampeye killifish? or is that wishful thinking?
No matter what I get, if I get the tank, it will be quite heavily planted.

Not sure about the killifish, but i am planning on getting a roughly 20L tank with a male betta, and i am hoping to put a few Rasbora Brigittaes in there, so it doesnt have to be just one species, and also maybe a few red cherry shrimp, so you can combine both your ideas. Not sure if this answered your question but i hope it helped.

It does, I always forget about the rasbora family and the Rasbora Brigittae look beautiful! ... now i really hope I get this tank

Looks like I will be getting this tank!

So I've picked out the two I'm interested in and I was wondering about what sort of numbers I would be looking at? and male/female ratio?

Scarlet Badis- Dario dario
Asian Stone Catfish- Hara jerdoni (thank you wirralbul)

and also has anybody owned either and could comment on behavior, particularly the Catfish?

They recommend (their words, not mine so don't blame me if any of these are bad suggestions) ember tetra, bumblebee goby, chilli rasbora, endlers, dwarf barb, pygmy cory, scarlet badis, clown killifish, as well as a betta or shrimp.

the gobies out because I can't do brackish but they are cute...It's a shame I can imagine that a bee themed tank would look quite cool ;p

I'm still really liking the scarlet badis and I'm glad it's quoted somewhere else as being suitable

Any particular reason you can't do brackish? If it's not something you've done before, this could be your chance to push your horizons out a little

My mum thinks there's a huge difference between a tropical and sub-tropical tank..hence why i had to start without a heater. If i mention having to put salt in she'll have a heart attack with images of huge marine set ups ;p I already have the two reasonably large tanks in my room and asking to set up a brackish set-up will probably be pushing my luck. I already have to convince her that a third tank is a good idea... so far she thinks it going to stay an empty tank

my mum really doesn't like fish; thinks they're a waste of time, I get to keep them because they stop me getting ill as much.

personally I'd love to set up a brackish tank albeit a bigger one

4x asian catfish
3x scarlet badis (1m 2f)
a few bumblebee shrimp

or is that very over stocked?

i would go with 1 badis, and more like 5 boraras brigittae if i were you

Have you looked at Emerald Rasboras? I think you've pretty much made up your mind but I thought I'd throw them in anyway.

sorry I do tend to get tunnel vision quite quickly
I definatly want the dario dario but if i had the emerald rasboras what sort of numbers would you suggest?
