Hey
I was just wondering what kind of fish would you recommend for a 20 gallon long fish tank? Also would you recommend sand or gravel?Which is easier to clean? Also how long does it take to cycle a tank and what do I have to do?

Thanks a lot
Nick

Hi :hi:

I see you are still validating, you should have received an email with a link which will allow you full access to the forum.
There are of pinned topics on fishless cycling which usually takes 4-6 weeks.

I personally prefer sand to gravel as the fish poo sits on the top and so can easily be syphoned out of the tank.

A general guide is to have 1 inch of adult size fish per gallon, remember that most fish like to live in shoals of the same variety.

If i had a 20 gallon to stock i would get a group of corydoras or khuli loaches for the bottom, a group of tetras or rasboras for the middle (my favs are cardinals and rummy nose tetras) and a dwarf or honey gourami for the top then once the tank is mature you could add a group of otocinclus for algae duties.

Check out the fish index and see what you like then post back with a list of fish you think might work.
